Eastern Balloon Rides has been certificated by the Civil Aviation Authority since 1993 to run a Champagne balloon ride business. This was many years after our first involvement with hot air balloons and it is this great wealth of experience that enables us to give you the superior flight that you deserve.
It has always been our policy that the passengers fly in the best and most up to date equipment available and that is why we are now flying our 5th new hot air balloon fitted with seats, which we know from great experience makes for more comfortable and safer ballooning.

Eastern Balloon Rides is based in Essex, although many passengers travel from all over the South East of England including London, Hertfordshire and Cambridge to come ballooning with us and experience the friendly, professional service we offer.
With Eastern Balloon Rides you will frequently fly with other balloons which adds more interest and photographic opportunities to your hot air ballooning experience. From the flight basket, on many occasions we can look to the East and see the coastline of Essex and Suffolk and then turn to look west and see the London skyline with all its high rise buildings of all shapes and sizes silhouetted against the sun.
The balloon flights launch from either Chelmsford, Earls Colne, Kelvedon, Braintree, Great Leighs or Colchester, but it will depend on the wind direction on the day as to which launch field the balloons can fly from. Ballooning takes place in good, stable weather conditions.

Our launch sites:Great Leighs. Essex County Showground.
The Showground is situated on the A131, Great Leighs by-pass between
Braintree and Chelmsford. From the Chelmsford direction, at the roundabout
half way along the by-pass turn left into Moulsham Hall Lane. After
500m turn right into Gate 11 and follow the road round to the Pavillion
Car Park.
Coming from the Braintree direction, travel past the Showground on your
right and at roundabout turn right into Moulsham Hall Lane, in 500m
turn right into Gate 11, and follow the road to the Pavillion Car Park.

Kelvedon. Prested Hall, Feering
Prested Hall is situated just off the southbound carriageway of the
A12, north-east of Kelvedon.
Coming from Ipswich and Colchester direction, leave the A12 at the Kelvedon
exit and immediately on your left is Prested Hall. Go down the long
drive and just before you get to the houses at the bottom of the drive
turn right into the launch field and travel up the field, parking on
the right well away from the houses and gateway to minimise disturbance
to the residents.
Coming from Witham and London direction on A12, take the Kelvedon exit
and drive through the village, as if you were going to rejoin the A12
and follow the sign over the A12 to Prested Hall, and follow directions
as above.

Earls Colne Airfield
The Airfield is situated on the B1024, two and a half miles north of
Coggeshall,(A120) on the left, direction Earls Colne. Well sign posted
for Essex Golf & Country Club and Earls Colne Business Park. On
entering the Airfield drive for 300m to the security buildings and turn
right. Continue for 200m and turn right again into redundant road and
park either side of this road. Pleae do not park on field or on other
roads.

Colchester. Tollgate
The Tollgate Centre is a shopping complex, close to Stanway, east of
Colchester, where we meet and travel a short distance to the launch
field. Coming from the London or Ipswich directions, leave the A12 at
the junction for the A1124, and turn south crossing over the roundabout
of the B1408 and into the Tollgate Centre. Turn left in front of McDonalds
and park in the Car Park on the left.

Chelmsford, Boreham interchange.
The launch field is behind the farm buildings off the roundabout, at
the junction of the southbound A12 and the B1137.
Coming from the London direction travel right round the Chelmsford by-pass
on the A12, and leave at the Boreham exit for the services., turn right
at the first roundabout, right at the second roundabout, over the A12
and straight over the next roundabout and into the farmyard and go round
the buildings on the left and into the car park behind.
From the Colchester and Ipswich direction, leave the A12 at the first
Chelmsford exit. At the roundabout travel straight over and into the
farmyard and follow directions as above.

Braintree, Blake House Craft Centre
Blake House Craft Centre is situated at Blake End , approximately 3
miles Stansted side of Braintree, well sign posted off of the A120 with
brown tourist signs. As well as Craft outlets there is the original
great maze, a licensed restaurant and tea room. (reservations tel: 01376
552553) If gates are closed please wait in small un-gated car park .
Otherwise proceed straight through the gates, straight through the farmyard,
and the launch field will be found on your left, and park against the
fence.
The new A120 Braintree by-pass is now fully open.
Coming from the Braintree direction using the new A120 Take the Felsted
B1417 and Stebbing (B1256)exit approximately 2.5 miles from the A131
interchange. Then follow the brown tourist signs to Blake House Craft
Centre.
Coming from Gt. Dunmow direction on the old A120 turn left at Palm Trees
restaurant (previously known as The Saling Oak)
direction Gt Saling. Half a mile on the right you will find Blake House
Craft Centre.
